Carbon Reduction Plan

OHWorks Ltd Carbon Reduction Plan

Commitment to Net Zero

OHWorks Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045, aligning with NHS Net Zero ambitions and the wider UK Government target of Net Zero by 2050. As a provider of Occupational Health and Wellbeing services, we recognise our responsibility to minimise the environmental impact of our operations whilst maintaining high-quality services for our clients, employees and stakeholders.

Carbon Reduction Objectives

We will focus on reducing emissions across the following key areas:

1. Travel and Transport
Business travel and commuting represent one of the most significant sources of emissions within professional service organisations.
We will:
•    Prioritise digital-first service delivery wherever clinically appropriate.
•    Increase the use of remote consultations and virtual meetings.
•    Reduce unnecessary travel through effective scheduling and regional workforce deployment.
•    Transition company vehicles to hybrid or fully electric alternatives when replacement cycles allow.
•    Encourage employees to use public transport, car sharing, cycling and walking where practical.
•    Introduce sustainable travel guidance for all staff.
Target
•    Reduce business travel emissions by 50% by 2030 compared with the baseline year.

2. Energy Consumption
Although OHWorks operates primarily from office and clinical locations, energy consumption remains a key contributor to operational emissions.
We will:
•    Procure renewable electricity wherever possible.
•    Work with landlords and site providers to improve energy efficiency.
•    Transition away from gas heating in favour of low-carbon alternatives where feasible.
•    Upgrade lighting to LED systems.
•    Promote energy-efficient practices such as equipment shutdown procedures and smart heating controls.
Target
•    Source 100% renewable electricity for all directly controlled premises by 2030.

3. Hybrid Working and Employee Commuting
The adoption of flexible and hybrid working practices provides significant opportunities to reduce carbon emissions.
We will:
•    Maintain flexible working arrangements where operationally appropriate.
•    Reduce employee commuting journeys through remote working.
•    Encourage sustainable travel options for office attendance.
•    Monitor commuting patterns through staff surveys.
Target
•    Reduce commuting-related emissions by 30% by 2030.

4. Procurement and Supply Chain
OHWorks recognises that a substantial proportion of emissions occur within the supply chain.
We will:
•    Integrate sustainability considerations into supplier selection and contract management.
•    Prioritise suppliers that demonstrate carbon reduction commitments.
•    Encourage key suppliers to develop Carbon Reduction Plans.
•    Consider environmental impact alongside quality and value when procuring goods and services.
•    Support NHS Net Zero requirements throughout the supply chain.
Target
•    Ensure all strategic suppliers have appropriate environmental policies or carbon reduction commitments by 2030.

5. Waste Management and Resource Use

We will minimise waste generation and maximise reuse and recycling opportunities.
Actions include:
•    Continuing digital-first administration and record management.
•    Reducing paper consumption through electronic documentation.
•    Implementing robust recycling arrangements at all sites.
•    Ensuring correct segregation of clinical and non-clinical waste.
•    Promoting sustainable purchasing practices.
Target
•    Reduce office paper consumption by 75% by 2030.

6. Staff Engagement and Culture

Achieving Net Zero requires organisation-wide participation.
We will:
•    Deliver annual sustainability awareness campaigns.
•    Include environmental objectives within organisational planning.
•    Share carbon reduction progress with employees.
•    Encourage staff-led sustainability initiatives.
•    Promote low-carbon behaviours in everyday operations.
Target
•    Provide annual sustainability training or awareness activities for all employees.

Carbon Measurement and Reporting

OHWorks will:
•    Establish a company-wide carbon emissions baseline.
•    Measure and report Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 emissions annually.
•    Monitor progress against reduction targets.
•    Review and update this Carbon Reduction Plan annually.
•    Publish carbon reduction progress as part of tender submissions and client reporting where required.

Governance

Responsibility for implementation of this Carbon Reduction Plan sits with the Senior Leadership Team, supported by operational managers and employees across the business.

Progress will be reviewed annually to ensure:
•    Emissions continue to reduce year-on-year.
•    Targets remain achievable and ambitious.
•    Opportunities for further carbon reductions are identified and implemented.

Declaration

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with current Government and NHS guidance and reflects OHWorks Ltd's commitment to reducing environmental impact and achieving Net Zero emissions by 2045.
